Warner to swoop for slice of SCi

It is widely reported that media giant Time Warner is poised to buy a ten per cent stake in UK publisher SCi, giving the colossal US firm a foothold in the games industry.
As reported on Next-gen.biz, the move could mean that SCi gains access to a huge library of Warner IP. Eidos already has Tom and Jerry and a Justice League Heroes already set for release, which could be the first of many titles based on Warner IP. The proposed deal could also lead to further opportunities with Time Warner-owned businesses AOL and GameTap.
“Whatever they decide to do, the two parties have to agree because they need to work together going forward,” a source told The Business. “This is more about taking the business on to a different level than just a pure investment.”
Whether the deal will lead to a fully-blown buyout is yet to be seen, but to have interest from such a high-profile firm as Time Warner is bound to give SCi’s share price a serious boost.
