New name for BVG

Publisher BVG has undergone a branding makeover, and is now to be officially known as Disney Interactive Studios as the firm continues its attempt to ramp up its presence in the games space.

The newly renamed publisher revealed the news at the company’s investor conference in Orlando. It will continue to publish both Disney and non-Disney branded titles for all platforms.

Disney Interactive Studios’ senior vice president and general manager Graham Hopper explained further: “This change reflects our focus on creativity, the weight of Disney content in our portfolio, and the enormous value consumers see in the Disney brand.”

The move comes several months after the publisher snapped up Climax Racing Studios as part of its expansion program. It is believed that the two companies are working on a major new racing franchise, which will now be published under the Disney Interactive Studios label.
