Acclaim nets a million

GameSpot reports that resurrected label Acclaim, which is now a free-to-play MMO online games provider, has racked up its one millionth user just over a year after its re-birth.

Acclaim’s model allows users to register and play its titles for free, with revenue being generated via in-game advertising and microtransactions. Typically, players are encouraged to spend real cash on enhancements such as weapons upgrades and new character options.

The MMO company currently has four games available on its website – Bots, 9Dragons, 2Moons and Dance, with more scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks.
