Eurogamers goes live

Specialist site Eurogamer has launched an ambitious new community portal.
The company has set its sights on Eurogamers becoming the MySpace of video gaming, with the ability for anyone to set up their own page, showing the games they are playing as well as linking to their friend's pages. Users will also be able to set up and find groups, so that they can meet other gamers with similar interests.
And according to Rupert Loman, Eurogamer’s managing director, there is more to come: “The Eurogamers launch is the first step in our plan to offer new ways of interacting with gamers. The reaction to the site from our group of beta testers has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re looking forward to developing the site to its full potential.”
To celebrate the launch, Ubisoft has teamed up with Eurogamers to promote their latest Xbox 360 and upcoming PS3 game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.
Later this year, Eurogamer Network is also hoping to roll the site out in a further five different European languages.
