EA preparing SimCity Societies

Rumoured fifth instalment to the pioneering city building series in the pipeline

US games blog Joystiq is reporting that EA officials have confirmed that the publisher and developer is working on a fifth instalment to the popular SimCity franchise – which currently carries the tentative title of SimCity Societies.

The site quotes an EA executive as saying: “The game is completely different from SimCity 4, so they're trying to come up with something different than just calling it SimCity 5.”

The official scoop is expected to arrive in the US version of Games for Windows Magazine, due out today. Also, expect the title to be showcased at the upcoming E3.
