New outlets in Canada, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden open in last 30 days
The leading global games retailer, US-owned chain GameStop, has confirmed that its international store count has now passed 1,000 with the last month alone seeing new outlets open in Canada, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
Including its US-based operations, the chain now operates some 4,816 stores.
Despite only owning two English-based outlets, GameStop has repeatedly been linked with an aggressive move into the UK market. For a long time it was heavily tipped to be lining up a swoop for the now GAME-owned Gamestation.
It currently operates around 40 stores in Ireland.
