E3 08: Future PSP could have hard drive

SCEA CEO Jack Tretton says built-in storage could be ‘the trend moving forward’

With Sony putting plenty of emphasis on its still-blossoming portable machine at this year's E3, Sony’s American CEO has spoke openly for the first time about his ideas for the platform going forwards.

Kotaku reports that speaking to a reporter’s gathering this morning, when asked about the possible introduction of some internal memory in future revisions of the PSP, Tretton stated:

"I think we definitely thought about it. I think that's the trend moving forward."

He also spoke candidly about the firm’s portable disc format: "I think the UMD has struggled, and that's an understatement. That's been a very frustrating thing. I don't think UMD movies were handled very effectively."
