Microsoft makes its machine cheaper than the Wii as hardware sell-out hints at possible revival in Far East
At a Microsoft press conference at Japan this morning the platform holder confirmed a drastic price cut for its hardware range – with the hard drive-less Arcade machine now cheaper than Nintendo’s Wii.
CVG reports that the Arcade pack now costs just YEN 19,800 (£100), a significant cut from the previous price of YEN 27,800. Price cuts have also been confirmed for the standard and Elite models, though details of that are yet to hit.
The move comes after the chart success of Namco Bandai’s Tales of Vesperia, the popularity of which saw Xbox 360 consoles sell-out across the country.
