Data from research and analysis firm Nielsen claims that North America gamers spent more time playing Sony’s PS2 than any other console in 2008.
The stats show that the PS2 accounted for 31.7 per cent of the US’ total game time. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 claimed the second spot with 17.2 per cent, followed by Nintendo’s Wii with 13.4 per cent.
Next up was Microsoft’s original Xbox, with 9.7 per cent, which was surprisingly ahead of Sony’s PS3 at 7.3 per cent. The GameCube claimed 4.6 per cent with everything else – namely PC, DS, PSP and Game Boy – accounting for the remaining 16.2 per cent.
The numbers were calculated using data from monitored North American households and cover the period between January and October last year.
