Dishonored

Dishonored was recieved with much fanfare at 2011’s E3 expo. It was a new IP amongst a sea of sequels and it boasted that atmospheric pull Bioshock had back in 2007.

It also pulled in some of the biggest ‘best of’ and ‘ones to watch’ awards from the games media’s finest, securing early interest from a community of eager gamers.

At its core, Dishonored is a revenge story. It’s set in the industrial city of Dunwall, which looks like a late 1800s London.

Gamers play as Corvo Atano, the once-trusted bodyguard of the Empress. After being framed for her murder, and donning a rather frightening mask, players become the ultimate assassin and must defeat the infected cities’ oppressive government and those who conspired against Atano.

KILLING GAME
The first person game mixes clever stealth gameplay with magic and weapons to complete assassination missions. There’s a huge emphasis on player choice, allowing gamers to tackle each quest using stealth, combat or both. It’s the kind of game that offers plenty of options, paths and alternatives to completing each goal.

“We think Dishonored is a game that is fresh and will resonate with fans,” says Bethesda’s PR?and marketing VP Pete Hines.

“We’re doing a lot of paid media – online, print, TV, cinema, the whole mix.

“But it is also a title that has the ability to break through with the viral buzz which comes from word of mouth. I?think it will be a very strong game in erms of what fans and media will think, and so it will have the ability to grow.”

Alongside an slice ‘em up mini-game iPhone and iPad release (see Rat Attack box out), a whole plethora of pre-order DLC from different retailers, an A-list celebrity cast and an immersive story for gamers to get their teeth into, there’s guaranteed to be a lot of interest in 2K?Game’s Dishonored from fans and the media alike – just in time for its October 12th release date.
