Football Manager 2012

Consistently leading the UK and European PC?sales charts, the Football Manager franchise has established itself at the top of the league when it comes to dugout sims.

In the 2012 edition players can once again take the reins of clubs from 50 nations around the world and through team talks, tactics and pitch side instructions, become the next Sir Alex Ferguson.

Retaining all the main elements that have made the franchise a hit with footie fans, Football Manager 2012 adds a whole host of new features and enhancements that keeps the managerial experience fresh and more realistic than ever.

Improvements to transfers now allow managers to deal with loyalty bonuses and youth contracts. If players want to develop the next wonderkid instead of buying their way to glory, an authentic scouting system will provide managers with a plethora of useful information including tactical info and any goals scored or conceded.

Alongside training and matchday preparations, players will also have to get to grips with the more personal side of the beautiful game such as building a relationship with the Chairman, dishing out a consoling arm or tough love to struggling players and tackling the difficult questions often posed by the media.

A new tone system means gamers can now indicate the way they want to speak to players. With five tones to choose from, players can now calmly praise Rooney for a hatrick and passionately scream at Torres for missing (yet another) sitter.

Elsewhere, Football Manager 2012 asks consumers to register their game through Steam, which should go some way in cutting game piracy.

This fan base, piracy-beating measures and a swathe of new in-depth features should ensure another year of success for Football Manager. And keep men across the country glued to their PC monitors.

Winning Formula

Selling over seven million copies worldwide, the Football Manager series has been gamers’ first choice for managerial sims since it first arrived in 2005. Last year’s title continued the critcial acclaim that the franchise regularly recieves, getting a Metacritic score of 85.

Real Deal

The Football Manager franchise has proved its authentic managerial credentials through some of its high profile users. A number of clubs have used the game as a means of scouting players and in 2008, Everton signed a deal with the game to use its large database of players as a scouting tool.

This game is too addictive for its own good. I'm scared to play it as I know it means I'll be up until 2am playing 'One more match'.
