Following the resulting defeat of their coup d’etat in Mexico City, the rebels gathered their remaining forces along the US border, which is where the sequel comes in.
Rather than doing the usual special forces thing of getting involved in the affairs of other countries with the standard sanctimonious swagger that comes with every card-carrying patriot, the elite Ghost team suddenly find themselves on the back-foot, tasked with defending US soil from a much larger Mexican rebel army amassing on the border.
Digging in between the Juarez, Mexico and the El Paso, Texas frontier, the Ghosts have less than 72 hours to stop a nuclear attack.
The game features some impressive visuals, in particular the physics and particle systems which provide some very realistic explosions and smoke effects. Dynamic lighting and shadows morph as day turns to night in real time, while a constantly changing weather system requires players to adjust tactics in the middle of missions.
The game enjoyed great popularity when it launched on the Xbox 360 in March, and Ubisoft will be hoping to replicate this success on the PC
