Global Ops is a third-person shooter that puts PC gamers in a race across the world to track down a stolen nuclear warhead.
As part of a US special forces squad, users must gun down terrorists in Greenland, North Africa, Libya and more to take back the atom bomb. The title boasts graphics powered by Unreal Engine 3, nine single-player levels and six multiplayer maps. Up to ten players can take part in firefights together.
The developer of Global Ops – Spectral Games – was formed in 2009 by industry veterans who have worked on other war shooters such as Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and Men of Valor: Vietnam.
Kalypso’s head of marketing and PR Mark Allen tells MCV: “Third-person action shooter games are always good sellers on the PC. With the topical backstory and the mid-range price point Global Ops has the potential to be a strong seller.”
Kalypso will be promoting the game with a pre-order campaign running across several PC gaming publications. There will also be a mainstream lifestyle PR drive at launch featuring competitions.
