Naruto is proof that eccentric Japanese franchises can be surprisingly successful in the West.
As of last month, video games based on the anime and manga smash had topped 10m shipments worldwide. The franchise has also spawned films, CDs and a trading card game, which Namco Bandai is now responsible for in the UK.
In fact, the standard version of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations on Xbox 360 and PS3 will come bundled with a Booster Pack featuring three cards, while the Collector’s Edition will feature a 51-card Starter Pack.
Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is the latest video game in the series. It again revolves around martial arts teenager Naruto Uzamaki who wants to become the greatest ninja in the world.
Playable fighters include series favourites Raikage, Sasuke Uchiha and Naruto himself, as well as Zabuza and Haku.
The game allows ninjas from different generations to come together and fight one another, including a younger Kakashi, which will certainly appease hardcore Naruto fans. Plenty new online modes have been added including Endless Battles, while fighting gameplay has been refined with a new substitution system and combo cancel feature.
Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations is a must-buy for Naruto fanatics and also presents an appealing experience to fans of Dragon Ball Z, anime and fighting games in general.
