HAVING made a splash overseas, Persona 4 Golden is landing on shelves and UK distributor Reef Entertainment has very hopes for the Vita exclusive.
This expanded version of the PlayStation 2 game features over 100 hours of gameplay as players investigate murders and explore a mysterious world behind the screen of the television.
Persona 4 Golden caused a sales spike on Vita in Japan, selling 137,000 copies in one week. And Reef Entertainment sees this success overseas as a good indicator of the title’s potential at UK retail.
“Judging from how well the game has done in both the US and Japanese territories, we believe that Persona 4 Golden is the stand-out title on the PlayStation Vita to date,” says Jas S Marwaha, community manager and PR and marketing assistant at Reef Entertainment.
“Persona 4 Golden is the game the PlayStation Vita has been waiting for.”
The visuals of Persona 4 have been remastered to take full advantage of the capabilities of the Vita, and a new online dungeon allows gamers to call on other players for assistance when in trouble within the world of the TV.
Fans of the franchise will also see a new character as well as brand new story events and anime cutscenes.
Reef believes the title is so strong that consumers would purchase a Vita just to play the game.
“When we attended London MCM Expo back in October, we discovered that quite a lot of RPG fans will be purchasing a PlayStation Vita simply to play Persona 4 Golden,” adds Marwaha.
“The game is averaging a score of 94 per cent after 30 professional reviews on metacritic. With such amazing statistics we truly do feel that Persona 4 Golden can be the first big Vita success of the year, and will, of course, tempt more people to purchase a Vita and play the Persona series.”
PERSONA PRINT PRESENCE
The game will establish a presence in print through specific magazines, with campaigns and covers in titles including GamesTM, Play, MyM and Now Gamer.
A pre-order bonus will give fans eight never before seen pin-badges of Persona 4 characters including Chie Satonaka, Yu Narukami and Rise Kujikawa. These will be available for pre- order customers at selected retail stores.
