Popular kids show Power Rangers is now in its 17th iteration and is still going strong.
The latest version, Power Rangers Samurai, focuses on five teenage heroes descended from Samurai warriors. The Rangers must use their martial arts training, special powers and weapons and, of course, gigantic transforming robots to fend off the evil Master Xandred and his army of Nighlok monsters.
Since Japanese firm Namco Bandai makes the best-selling toys aimed at fans of the show, it makes sense for the company’s video games arm to produce a tie-in title for gamers.
Wii and DS owners will be able to take on the role of all five Rangers, harnessing their elemental powers of Fire, Water, Sky, Forest and Earth. They must battle through hordes of monsters in order to find out what Xandred is up to and stop him.As they progress, fans will unlock more of the Rangers’ powers and gain access to new weapons such as the Red Ranger’s Fire Smasher.
They will even be able to battle Xandred’s towering MegaMonster with the power of the Zords, which can be combined to create the powerful Samurai Megazord.
Namco Bandai will be targeting fans of the show and younger gamers.
