Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

WIth technology that bridges the gap between toys and games, as well as the chasm between consoles, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures is set to become a must-have title for kids at Christmas.

“We are committed to bringing out the kid in everyone and the game will change the way people interact with toys and video games,” says Ian McClellan, Activision’s European marketing director.

“Here we have a video game which creates a whole new genre and allows us to introduce Spyro and the other Skylanders to a new generation of kids – of all ages.”

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure introduces an innovative style of gameplay that sees players collect and use a series of real toys that have playable counterparts.

In a narrative penned by two of the Academy Award nominated writers of Toy Story, Spyro’s Adventure takes place after the evil Kaos has frozen the protectors of the Skylands and cast them out to Earth. It’s up to players to collect the Skylanders and save their world.

Toy Meets World

When placed on the Portal of Power, the figurines become playable characters in the game with co-op gameplay initiated simply by placing two toys on the portal.

The Skylanders will remember their experiences, levels and upgrades and will keep them even when used on a different console.

With over 30 characters to collect and the freedom to change characters just by placing them on the portal, players can build up and upgrade their very own team of powerful Skylanders.

The game’ collectable nature, its interactive style of gameplay and the idea of bringing plastic creatures could make Skylanders a new playground craze.

Marketing

TV spots will run on mainstream and kids channels whilst cinema ads will appear before Puss In Boots and Happy Feet Two. Partnerships have been arranged with Nickelodeon and Mumsnet.

Starter Packs

When players kick-start their adventure, a starter pack will include the game, the Portal of Power and three figures, as well as three trading cards, a sheet of stickers and a collector’s poster.

Figure Packs

Players can add to their team with figure packs. Consumers can purchase both individual figures and three-figure packs with each character possessing new powers and attacks.

Expansion Packs

Adventure packs expand the Skylanders experience by giving gamers a new level and two characters per pack. Extra levels include the Pirate Seas and Darklight Crypt worlds.
