It's hard to believe that SpongeBob Squarepants is twelve years old.
The little talking sponge has aged surprisingly well in that time, but like the best sprightly characters from TV cartoons, he hasn’t got old and boring.
Since 1999 over 300 episodes of SpongeBob have been aired. And the iconic character has even had his own movie and amusement park rides. Now the underwater critter is getting his very first Kinect game.
SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip claims to be the first title for Xbox 360 Kinect to bring motion-sensing skateboarding and surfing activities to the living room. Players can take part in an arcade-style single-player roadtrip adventure mode or race against a friend or relative in the split-screen mode.
Soaking up fun
There are 12 environments on the Kinect version, with gamers able to take part in seven different challenge modes like Timed and Score Runs and even take pictures of themselves while skating or surfing.
The Nintendo DS version meanwhile has over 100 maps to explore, 10 snowboarding levels and five modes including Combo Mayhem, Untouchable, Score, Win the Race and Collectible. There is also a multiplayer mode that can be accessed with just one game cartridge between two players.
SpongeBob’s Surf & Skate Roadtrip is an ideal product for fans of Nickelodeon’s popular cartoon series and young children alike.
