The Cube

If you’re a fan of tense cube-focused game show The Cube, presented by the loveable Phillip Schofield, which sees contestants take part in seemingly simple but increasingly difficult tasks, then you’re in luck.

There’s now a game of the BAFTA award-winning show and it’s coming to PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii and 3DS.

You might not be playing for an actual £250,000 cash prize but you can experience the same challenges without the stress of being on TV. The Cube video game replicates the television show’s most popular challenges, such as The Cylinder, Fracture and StopZone.

The PS3 and Wii versions utilise each console’s motion controllers to recreate the challenging experience of The Cube. While the 3DS version offers additional 3D-focused challenges.

The game features both The Voice and The Body who star in the TV show in cut scenes that demonstrate each task.

The number of games varies between platforms, with the 3DS version featuring up to 33 challenges and the PS3 edition offering a range of additional ones via DLC.

There are also multiplayer modes, difficulty settings for contestants who need an extra challenge and even stat tracking to show each players’ wins and losses.

REALITY CHECK
“We’re delighted to see The Cube being launched onto this extremely impressive range of new platforms,” says All3Media International’s head of interactive media and licensing Selma Turajlic.

“The Cube is a TV format that naturally extends to console play; the exciting capabilities of the platforms will maximise the stunning visual and gameplay aspect of the show.”

With a mix of mental agility, skill and strategy, The Cube is a perfect family pick for fans of the show that want to step into the nerve- shattering environment and beat the Cube.

“This is the closest anyone can get to the real thing,” said The Cube’s show creator Adam Adler.
