Capcom is arguably the king of fighting games. Not only does it produce top-quality titles that have amassed a dedicated fanbase, it also knows exactly how to feed them with new content.
The publisher successfully brought back Street Fighter to armchairs across the world in 2008 with Street Fighter IV. But it didn’t stop there, with Super, 3D and Arcade editions hitting shelves since, not to mention a plethora of downloadable content.
Enter Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 – a revamped version of this year’s 2D-style brawler. Since February the original version has shipped well over 2m units, putting the bonus edition in good stead.Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 adds 12 new characters. These include six Capcom characters such as Frank West from Dead Rising, Nemesis from Resident Evil and Phoenix Wright from the self-titled DS attorney games. New Marvel characters include Hawkeye, Doctor Strange and Ghost Rider.
The release features eight new stages, a refined fighting system, and a Spectator Mode which lets gamers watch live matches together online.
Capcom promoted the game with a Facebook campaign encouraging fans to send in pictures of themselves in silly fighting poses.
The game will also be present at the Capcom X Namco Xmas Fight Club event on December 3rd. An industry-only charity version will take place a day earlier on December 2nd.
