Uncharted is the flagship game for PlayStation Vita. The series has sold over 13m units globally since in just over four years, since the first Uncharted arrived on PS3 in November 2007.
The adventure franchise has received highly favourable reviews thanks to its epic movie-like feel and Tomb Raider style exploration gameplay.
Now Sony is publishing Uncharted: Golden Abyss as a launch title for PlayStation Vita to give its new handheld a real kick-start at retail. In this brand new title – with 30 levels – explorer and series protagonist Nathan Drake follows the trail of a 400-year-old secret Spanish sect.
As players race across America looking for a legendary lost city, they’ll have to cross river basins and explore temple ruins along the way. Drake gets caught in the middle of a rivalry between his old friend Jason Dante and Marisa Chase, the granddaughter of a missing archaeologist.
Golden Abyss makes good use of PS Vita’s unique features, too. Users can touch, steer and tilt the portable console to swing and jump across ravines. They can use the front and back touch pads to move Drake, and Vita’s motion sensor to swing him from rope to rope. If this control system is too new for some Uncharted fans, they can just use the dual analog sticks and buttons.
The game has been developed by Resistance: Retribution developer Sony Bend Studios.
Expect Golden Abyss to be the day one choice for many PS Vita buyers.
