Third-party games line-up on Xbox One

Plenty has been made of the Xbox One’s launch line-up, fronted by Microsoft’s impressive range of first-party titles. These vary from new IP such as Ryse: Son of Rome, to fan-favourites like Dead Rising and Forza – and even an old-school gem in Killer Instinct staging a return to gamers’ screens.

But alongside Microsoft’s firstparty games is a wealth of titles from EA, Activision and Ubisoft. There’s over 15 third-party games available to Xbox One owners at launch, with more on the way in 2014

ASSASSIN'S CREED IV: BLACK FLAG

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed gets a new lick of paint on Xbox One as players explore the Caribbean in search of trouble – and treasure – as they take control of new hero and pirate assassin, Edward Kenway.

FIGHTER WITHIN

Gamers can can polish their fighting skills in Ubisoft’s Fighter Within. Using Kinect, the full-body simulator lets player take out their stress on unyielding opponents.

CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS

The world’s most popular shooter ushers in the next-gen as Call of Duty: Ghosts blasts its way on to Xbox One. Fans can expect the series’ renowned online play and a gripping campaign. Xbox One owners will gain exclusive early access to DLC including new maps.

LEGO MARVEL SUPERHEROES

The entire Marvel crew of superheroes make their way to the Xbox One as one for the family. From smashing everything in sight as The Hulk to enforcing strict justice as Captain America, players and LEGO fans alike will enjoy Warner’s block-buster.

SKYLANDERS: SWAP FORCE

If there’s one game kids will be looking for this Christmas, it’s Skylanders: Swap Force. The toysto- life platformer comes to Xbox One, letting users beam their favourite figurines into the game. This year’s entry also allows characters to be swapped in order to form over 256 new combinations.

 

BATTLEFIELD 4

Players looking for all-out warfare are catered for with Battlefield 4, which offers up to 64-player
multiplayer. EA’s latest outing also includes the updated Commander Mode, an overhauled class system and increased map destruction. Players can also access the Second Assault DLC first on Xbox One, which includes four fan-favourite maps.

NEED FOR SPEED RIVALS

It’s not just Forza 5 available on launch day, as EA’s Need for Speed: Rivals is on offer to let driving fans cause havoc as both a cop or illegal street racer. Not your typical racing game, Rivals gifts players the power to takedown their opponents with an arsenal of weaponry including EMPs and the ability to call in roadblocks.

NBA LIVE 2014

Basketball has never looked so good as another of EA’s premier sports franchises gets the next-gen treatment. Using the Ignite engine, NBA Live 2014 now updates regularly to real-life events of the NBA.

JUST DANCE 2014

Another Xbox Launch title for the family, Just Dance 2014 has everyone on their feet to the latest chart-toppers. With a 47-song tracklist and abundance of new modes, up to six players can play at once, only on Xbox One.

MADDEN NFL 25

UK players might not quite know all of the ins-and-outs of American Football but Madden NFL 25 is a great place to start. This year’s entry is the most realistic in the series to date as another EA Sports title built using the new Ignite game engine.

NBA 2K14

There’s not just one, but two basketball titles on Xbox One at launch. 2K’s latest sporting venture has players take to the court with a reworked control system, while teams from the Euroleague are also playable for the first time ever.

ZUMBA FITNESS WORLD PARTY

The fitness sim lets those of us wanting to get in shape this Christmas do so with Kinect. World Party has over 40 tracks and lets players track in-game milestones.

WATCH DOGS (SPRING 2014)

Ubisoft’s open-world thriller puts players in the shoes of hacker extraordinaire Aiden Pearce. Gamers will have to use all of their newly adopted cyber skills to bend the city of Chicago to their will.

PEGGLE 2

EA’s family puzzler returns for a second outing as an Xbox One timed exclusive. Peggle 2 challenges players to clear peg-filled levels whilst utilising the game’s colourful characters and their special powers.

PLANTS VS ZOMBIES: GARDEN WARFARE

EA’s popular franchise returns with a new twist, as Garden Warfare is a multiplayer-only, squad-based shooter.

TITANFALL (2014)

The new IP from EA is another Microsoft exclusive, appearing on Xbox One, 360 and PC. Players will engage in intense combat, both on foot and within mechanised warriors known as Titans.

DESTINY (SPRING 2014)

From the creator of Halo and the publisher of Call of Duty, the new IP introduces a unique FPS experience as players engage in both story, cooperative and competitive online multiplayer modes.

SUNSET OVERDRIVE (2014)

Another Xbox One exclusive set for 2014, the open-world shooter takes place in a chaotic city, as players survive its now mutated residents.
