Maniac Mansion creators’ Thimbleweed Park exceeds Kickstarter goal

Maniac Mansion creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick have successfully crowdfunded their new adventure game Thimbleweed Park, raising more than a quarter of a million dollars over the campaign’s funding goal.

The recently concluded Kickstarter effort – and true spirtual successor” to Maniac Mansion and other Lucasfilm Games from decades past – sought $375,000, but a backer turnout of 15,623 individuals drove it above and beyond to a final total of $626,250. Gilbert and Winnick expressed their gratitude in a recent update:

"The support for Thimbleweed Park has been completely and totally overwhelming," the pair stated. "Once again, thank you thank you thank you for believing in us. We’re going to make the best damn point & click adventure game possible and we could not have done it without your help."

Thimbleweed Park is being developed for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS platforms and is currently scheduled to launch in June 2016.
