Ubisoft DRM returns to ruffle feathers

Publisher Ubisoft has once again found itself to be the subject of internet rage over its PC gaming DRM strategies.

Dutch site Guru3D has revealed that any hardware alteration to a PC on which strategy title Anno 2070 has already been activated will trigger a further activation, as the software classes the new setup as a brand new machine.

And with the game limited to three activations on three different devices, this can quickly eat into those privileges.

The site was in fact swapping graphics card for a comparison piece on the game. In the end it needed developer Bluebyte to manually unlock the title

Guru3D has now pledged to refrain from reviewing any future Ubisoft PC releases.
