Taiwan tech firm Macronix has been drafted in to manufacture the cartridges for Nintendo’s 3DS, consumer blog Kotaku reports.
Furthermore, the site claims that the cartridges will boast a capacity of 8GB – putting them firmly in Xbox 360 territory when it comes to the amount of data that a single disc/cart game can offer.
Current DS cartridges have a 512MB storage limit.
However, Kotaku claims to have heard rumours that Nintendo will put a 2GB limit on 3DS games, as well as a minimum requirement of 1GB.
