Ubisoft scoops kids BAFTA double

Publisher Ubisoft is celebrating a double victory in yesterday’s Children’s BAFTA Awards.

Rabbids Go Home won the title of Best Video Game, edging out a string of Nintendo nominations including the likes of New Super Mario Bros, Pokemon Heart Gold/ Soul Silver and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the process.

In addition, Just Dance claimed the BAFTA Kids Vote for Best Video Game category, fending off opponents including FIFA 10, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, Mario & Sonic At The Winter Olympic Games, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

These Awards reflect the many ways that children engage with content and it’s great to see so much talent celebrated tonight,” BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry stated.

The enthusiasm for the BAFTA Kids’ Vote is obvious and we are also thrilled at the success of our new competition, BAFTA Young Game Designers.”
