University is first Scottish establishment to join trade association

Abertay joins Tiga

Abertay University has joined Tiga, making it the first Scottish university to sign up to the association.

As part of the membership, Abertay – which currently holds two of the four Skillset-accredited courses in the UK – will work in tandem with Tiga’s Technology Group, which helps team up studios with university research groups – and will help the university closely tailor its course to the industry’s needs.

“Abertay is already well connected with industry through Dare to be Digital and numerous research initiatives," said Paul Durrant, director of business development at Abertay. "The TIGA technology group will support this valuable work and enable us to increase our knowledge transfer and prototyping benefits to the computer games industries.”

Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, added: “Abertay is an exceptional university, providing first class graduates for the games development industry. Abertay and TIGA will now work more closely to benefit its students and UK employers. This move further strengthens TIGA’s strategic involvement in the vibrant and successful Scottish games development sector.”
