New engine aimed at commercial and pro-indie developers

Abyssal readies its Tools

Connecticut-based team Abyssal Technologies has launched Abyssal Tools, a new ‘game creation tool kit and rendering system’ aimed at professional commercial and pro-indie developers.

The engine features a fully fleshed-out content pipeline, including a 3ds Max exporter, a Geometry Editor for testing effects and creating level of details; an Animation Editor to assemble animation data and create particle systems; and a World Editor for landscape editing and entity management.

"The feedback we have received over the two short weeks since the technology has become available has been amazing," said Mina Bierner, marketing manager for Abyssal.

"Currently we have numerous parties in various stages of evaluation with one having already purchased our Commercial Enterprise solution for a new, yet-to-be-announced RPG project. We will also be looking into expanding the development platform to include support for massively multiplayer development.

She added: "We are delighted to be able to offer a professional, extensible and easy to use development solution to both commercial professionals and experienced independent developers."
