Activision announces Ghostbusters game without female film cast

There will be a Ghostbusters game for consoles and PC releasing around the same time as the upcoming film.

However, while Amy Pascal and Ivan Reitman’s movie will feature four female ‘busters, Activision’s game will not follow suit. Nor will it feature the original cast from the 1984 film.

In fact, the trailer shows that a brand new mixed gender cast – two men, two women – will star in the isometric cooperative action title, which is due out on PS4, Xbox One and PC on July 15th, which is the same day as the film. Four player local co-op will be supported.

The narrative takes place after the film, with new squads of ‘busters being recruited to deal with New York’s growing supernatural problems.

A separate mobile title called Ghostbusters: Slime City. It features asynchronous co-op and proton pack crafting. It’s due out on an unspecified date in July.
