Job listing for senior software engineer hints at focus on "avid video games players" and Amazon's "future games teams"

Amazon hiring experienced Unity, CryEngine and Unreal developers

Amazon Games Studios and its recently acquired developer Double Helix is hiring for developers experienced in Unity, CryEngine, Unreal and other leading engines.

The job listing for a senior software engineer, spotted by CVG, says the two firms plan to make titles for "avid video games players" developed in a start-up atmosphere.

The successful applicant will be working on new tools that will be used by Amazon’s "existing and future games teams", adding further credence to reports that the retail giant is planning a major push into the games space, potentially by launching its own console.

Among the preferred qualifications, Amazon is asking for three or more years of experience working on game development tools for shipped console or mobile titles, as well as experience with "Unity, Unreal, CryEngine or other 3D game engines", suggesting that these titles will be more complex that casual and puzzle games.

Amazon acquired Killer Instinct developer Double Helix in February, and rumours persist that the firm is working on an Android console – something supported by leaked pictures of an Amazon game controller.
