Engine says support for Allegorithmic’s texture tool came as request of dev feedback

Amazon Lumberyard adds Substance integration

Amazon’s Lumberyard engine now supports integration with Allegorithmic’s Substance texture editor.

Announcing the update in a blog post, Amazon Lumberyard field technical artist Melissa Austin said that the integration had come directly as a result of listening to developer feedback.

Substance allows creator to generate textures procedurally, and can be combined with Lumberyard’s Flow Graph feature to edit objects’ appearance without the need to re-render textures.

Textures created in Substance are also fully compatible with Lumberyard’s physically-based shading model.

Lumberyard users can import .sbsar Substance files, modify procedural materials produced by the tool and view the results in real time.
