Amazon has revealed its Fire TV set-top box that can also work as a game console.
The hardware will cost $99 and is already available to purchase.
The microconsole features 2GB of ram and a quad core processor that it claims is three times more powerful than Apple TV and Chromecast. The set top box will also play games and video in 1080p HD.
Games coming to the Fire TV include Minecraft, The Walking Dead, Asphalt 8 and Monsters University. Developers signed up to release games on the box include EA, Sega, Disney, Gameloft, Double Fine and Telltale Games.
Amazon Game Studios also revealed its first title, third-person shooter Sev Zero. The game will cost $6.99, but also comes free with a Fire game controller.
The gamepad is the same as what was previously revealed, taking inspiration from Microsoft’s Xbox controller, with added playback buttons for TV and film. The controller has been priced at $39.99, and comes with 1,000 Amazon coins ($10) for purchasing titles.
Amazon claimed that users can get up to 55 hours of gaming from a pair of AA batteries with the controller.
As well as games, the Fire TV can be used to stream film and TV shows through its own Amazon Prime service (formerly known as LoveFilm), and Netflix.
