Amazon rolls out Prime Now to new cities

Retailer Amazon has introduced its one-hour delivery service to three new cities.

Having previously hit London, now shoppers in Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle can pay for delivery of a selection of items within one hour. There is also a free two-hour delivery service for qualifying members.

Amazon adds that one of its fastest deliveries to date was a PS4 copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, which was delivered to a customer in Birmingham just 15 minutes after it was ordered.

Overall the most popular items ordered over Prime Now are Amazon’s own Fire TV stick, bottled water, Pepsi Max and Terry’s Chocolate Orange.

The best-selling items ordered alongside video games, meanwhile, include Pepsi Max, Old Jamaica Ginger Beer, Galaxy Chocolate and Doritos Chilli Heatwave Flavour Corn Chips.

It’s been only six months since we first launched Prime Now for customers in London and we’ve grown rapidly across London and to Birmingham and Newcastle,” Amazon.co.uk MD Christopher North.

Just in time for Christmas we’ve also launched in Manchester and surrounding areas and we expect to see many last minute Christmas gifts ordered through Prime Now between now and the late hours of Christmas Eve.”
