Georgia Tech professor Ian Bogost previously joked of disappointment that Lumberyard was a game engine

Amazon trolls game designer with box of lumber

If there’s one thing the internet has taught us, it’s that you never know who might be reading your tweets.

That was certainly the case for game designer and Georgia Tech professor Ian Bogost, who earlier this month tweeted his mock disappointment at the announcement of Amazon’s Lumberyard as a games engine – rather than a lumber delivery service

Lo and behold, two weeks later a box of wooden blocks arrived on Bogost’s doorstep, complete with a note reading: “Hi Ian. We take customer feedback seriously. Please enjoy your lumber.”

Naturally, the tweeted picture sparked a flurry of wood-related puns among Bogost Twitter followers. We were going to join in, but couldn’t seem to nail the timber. That works, right?
