Another $1m raised for Richard Garriott’s Shroud of the Avatar

Another $1m has been raised to fund the development of Richard Garriott’s next RPG Shroud of the Avatar.

The Ultima creator’s latest project has been funded by popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter. The original appeal finished eight months ago with a total of $1.9m.

Consumers have been able to make additional donations through the game’s official website, and the total has just passed the $3m mark, according to Eurogamer.

$1,119,209 has been raised by 4,445 backers through the sight, averaging out at roughly $252 per person. Added to the $1,919,275 raised through Kickstarter last year, the game’s total funding comes to $3,038,484.

Shroud of the Avatar is due on PC and Mac this Autumn, although backers are able to play early game builds with a fresh build due this weekend.
