Developers have today been given another platform to launch their games on; Apple’s Mac App Store.
The online portal, highly similar to the iOS version in terms of function and presentation, comes bundled with Mac OSX update v10.6.6
It is said that 1,000 free and paid-for apps are already available across the service. Firemint’s Flight Control HD and Rovio’s Angry Birds are among some of the Mac App Store’s launch games.
The iPhone App Store has become a major success story for Apple. In its first two years the online portal grossed around $1.4 billion, which Apple took a 30 per cent cut of.
The Mac App Store will again offer developers 70 per cent of royalties for apps. Like with iOS, an annual $99 license fee is required to sign up.
