Apple unveils new iPhone 6S and iPad models

Apple has revealed the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, along with two new iPad models.

The firm announced at its event today in San Francisco the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will introduce 3D Touch, which Apple states can recognize force and is touting as the next generation of multi-touch.”

According to the company, display sensors will detect how hard users are pressing onto the screen. This allows for tactile feedback, and subsequently a new way to program shortcuts from within an app as well as through the general operating system.

Along with its more practical applications, a pressure-sensitive interface offers many possibilities for gaming in particular – though the number of developers intending to invest their time into the tech remains to be seen.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus will launch on September 25thfor $199 and $299 respectively. Both feature a new 12 MP iSight camera that you can take 4K videos on, a 5 MP FaceTime camera, and an improved TouchID.

Along with the new iPhones, Apple also peeled back the curtain on a pair of new iPad models: the iPad Pro and the iPad mini 4.

The iPad Pro allows for multitasking, featuring a 12.9-inch display and a faster processor over any of its predecessors. It also packs 10 hours of battery life and a 4-speaker audio system.

The $399 iPad mini 4 replaces the iPad mini 3, bringing what Apple describes as "the power of the iPad Air 2" in a smaller package. With the new reveal, the iPad mini 2 has received a price drop to $269.

The iPad Pro will arrive in November and sell for $799 for the 32 GB version, $949 for 128 GB, and $1079 will get you 128 GB along with Wi-Fi and cellular connection. ipad Pro accessories include the Apple Pencil stylis for $99, and the Smart Keyboard for $169.
