Attendance record broken at GDC 2012

A record-breaking 22,500 industry professionals flooded into San Francisco last week to attend the Game Developers Conference, its organisers have announced.

The attendance for one of the world’s biggest games industry events grew by an extra 3,500 people from last year, a rise of 17 per cent.

Hundreds of companies and the industry’s top professionals took part in various talks and conferences throughout the five-day event, whilst tech companies showed off the latest innovations and break-throughs in games development.

“The GDC reflects the full spectrum of the game development community,” said GDC general manager Meggan Scavio

“The continued growth of the conference is a great indicator of a healthy and exciting industry. We are very proud to provide the forum for game makers to connect, dialogue, showcase, and learn in sessions, summits, expos and pavilions every year.”

GDC 2013 is set to take place from March 25th to 29th next year, and will see the event return to San Francisco and the Moscone Center.
