New digital audio workstation will integrate with Wwise to attract games devs

Audiokinetic teams up with Steinberg for Nuendo 7

Audio tools firm Audiokinetic has teamed up with Steinberg to integrate its flagship product with an upcoming digital audio workstation.

The company’s widely used Wwise middleware will have a seamless connection with Steinberg’s Nuendo 7, a new DAW that will be previewed for the first time at this week’s GDC in San Francisco.

Many game sound designers already use Nuendo, but Steinberg hopes to attract yet more games developers through this partnership.

Mixdowns created in Nuendo 7 can be exported to Wwise with a simple drag-and-drop operation, negating the need to manage files outside of the program. This will also work seamlessly between Mac and Windows computers on the same network.

Meanwhile, Wwise users will be able to directly open any Nuendo project that corresponds directly to an exported section.

Developers can check out the preview of Nuendo 7 at Audiokinetic’s GDC Expo booth, No. 836.

"Nuendo 7 will make a major impact on post-production facilities, and with Audiokinetic at our side we are confident that the smooth compatibility with Wwise will establish a sustainable position wihtin the games industry."

Audiokinetic CTO Martin Dufour added: "One of Audiokinetic’s core focuses is to streamline the workflow of the interactive audio community. This integration with Nuendo 7 represents a great step towards the overall goal."
