Batman Arkham Origins free-to-play brawler revealed for iOS, Android

A free-to-play version of NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins is in development for iOS and Android, publisher Warner Bros. has announced.

The brawler pits Batman against a number of DC Comics’ most deadly assassins,” with victories earning players unique” Batsuits, in-game currency, and other rewards. No word yet how microtransactions work – if indeed the game will implement such a system at all.

Those who register both the mobile and console versions of the game with a Warner Bros. ID account will gain access to some yet-to-be-revealed exclusive content as well.

"We created an integrated gaming ecosystem between the Batman: Arkham Origins mobile and console games, which delivers rewards and unlocks that provide greater experiences for players," Creative Director Ed Boon said.

"The mobile game goes hand-in-hand with what is offered on the other platforms."

The mobile adaption will arrive on iOS within the console game launch window,” while the Android release is expected during the holiday timeframe.”

Batman: Arkham Origins is due out worldwide on October 25th for PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.
