Gamechangers to be shown on BBC Two, despite no word of a settlement to Rockstar lawsuit

BBC airing Daniel Radcliffe GTA drama on September 15th

90-minute docudrama Gamechangers will debut on September 15th, the BBC has announced.

The one-off production tells the story of Grand Theft Auto’s origins and stars Daniel Radcliffe as Sam Houser facing off against Bill Paxton as notorious anti-games lawyer Jack Thompson.

Gamechangers will be shown on BBC Two and run from 9.00pm to 10.30pm on September 15th.

The original Grand Theft Auto was developed by DMA Design, which later became Rockstar Games. Rockstar has since filed a lawsuit against the BBC, claiming it was not involved in the project and that the BBC’s drama is an “unofficial depiction of purported events”.

Despite no word of a settlement being reached, it looks as though the BBC is still determined to go ahead with showing this documentary.

On the BBC site, a description of the show does now include the following: “This drama is for an adult audience and has not been authorised by the producers of Grand Theft Auto. Rather, it is based on court documents and interviews with many of those involved in the real events behind this compelling story.”
