Studio will reveal the secrets behind Fallout 4’s modular level design

Bethesda to host rare session at GDC

Bethesda is the latest big name to sign up as a speaker for this year’s Game Developers Conference, offering a deeper look at its most recent hit Fallout 4.

In a rare GDC appearance, the studio’s senior designer Joel Burgess and lead artist Nathan Purkeypile will discuss the post-apocalyptic RPG’s modular level design, a process that helped the team create a huge world filled with detailed locations in a relatively short space of time.

The pair will provide an in-depth analysis of the techniques they used to create art kits, as well as the way these kits are used by level designers.

The Fallout 4 session is just one of several talks about the development of triple-A games. Check out our latest Countdown to GDC 2016 to find out about six more.
