Jagex, Sony, Microsoft Game Studios, Blitz, Rebellion and Kuju all aboard for games career fairs starting next week

Big names join Games Grads 08

Tandem Events, organiser of the Develop conference, has revealed that a number of key names from the world of games development have also stepped up to support its UK games career events.

Microsoft Game Studios’ Rare, Rebellion, Blitz and Kuju – plus Sony’s London, Cambridge, Liverpool, Guerilla, Evolution and BigBig teams – are all set to take part in Games Grads this year.

Two GamesGrads events are running this month – a South event in London, on April 24th, and a North event in Manchester on April 29th. The events are free to attend and aim to offer aspiring games developers the chance to find out what vacancies are open at leading games companies and get their career in games started.

For 2008, Tandem has added a number of seminars to run alongside the career fair that’ll run throughout the day, where attendees can get practical advice on how to get into the industry.

The North event specifically will host Games Edu North, which is billed as ‘the only european event for games lecturers’. Confirmed speakers include reps from from Sony, Evolution, Microsoft, Rare, Abertay University, Glamorgan University, Hull University and Derby University.

The event is backed by Skillset, which works with both the industry and government to identify and tackle the skills and productivity needs of the audio visual industries throughout the UK.
