Bioware lead designer Corey Gaspur passes away

Bioware lead designer Corey Gaspur sadly passed away, the developer has announced.

Gaspur started at Bioware back in 2007 and in his decade with the company helped design some of the studio’s biggest titles, along with helping in a consulting capacity for many of EA’s non-Bioware titles.

His gaming career started supporting the 2008 reboot of Turok with Propaganda Games before leaving for Bioware as a gameplay and level designer. The full list of credits on Gaspur’s LinkedIn page shows the talent at work with work on Mass Effect 2 and 3 as well as all of the DLC and multiplayer additions to those releases. Following this, he became lead combat designer and then lead gameplay designer on Anthem

He also worked in a consultation capacity for both Bioware and EA with credits for Star Wars Battlefront, Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Dragon Age: Inquisition. When he wasn’t working with the studio, he was helping to give back to the industry, working as a game design instructor for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).

"Corey was a talented designer and an even better person," Bioware wrote on the company’s blog. "We offer our condolences to Corey’s family and everyone who knew him. We will miss you."
