Blockbuster promises next-gen console pre-order refunds

Troubled UK retailer Blockbuster WILL refund customers who have paid for PS4 or Xbox One pre-orders.

Having announced its intention to re-enter administration yesterday, the chain’s Twitter feed was responding to pre-order enquiries with what could easily have been interpreted as non-committal statements.

However, it has now categorically stated that customers who have pre-ordered can claim a full refund – although they will have to write a letter (on paper – remember that?) to the company’s Uxbridge HQ.

Stores are also still honouring store credit, for the time being at least. This could change at any moment, though, so customers who have credit in hand may be wise to get to a store today to claim their wares.

Blockbuster won’t, however, be able to fulfil pre-orders, meaning those who had pre-ordered either machine will likely be left without one on launch day unless they’re lucky enough to secure an alternative pre-order.

Don’t forget either that both Sony and Microsoft have previously said that they will ensure some free stock of both PS4 and Xbox One will be available on the UK High street on their respective launch days.
