New development-focused element comes to Boston Festival of Indie Games

BostonFIG event bolstered by DevTalks track

A new training track targeting game developers has been added to the Boston Festival of Indie Games.

Better known as BostonFIG, the conference this year includes the DevTalks track, taking place at the iconic Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The track introduces a number of sessions conceived to better developers’ understanding of various techniques and technologies available to them.

Speakers from Epic, Unity, Microsoft, Adobe and others will take to the stage throughout September 14th. As part of the track, advice will also be given on law, PR and a wealth of other topics that independent start-up studios are increasingly under pressure to handle with small teams.

Highlight sessions include Jim Brown, lead level designer at Epic, discussing emergent narratives in his talk ‘Once Upon a Time: Giving Players the Freedom to Create Their Own Story’, and Paul Neurath, co-founder of Looking Glass Studios, addressing ‘The Good the Bad and the Ugly of Game Startups’.
