Tablets are a quickly growing part of the Android installed base and the Intel Android tablets coming to market in 2014 promise some exciting new features, including superb graphics, advanced LTE-capabilities, contextual awareness even in a low power state (thanks to Intel’s Integrated Sensor Solution) and great battery life.
Lenovo, ASUS, Dell and Foxconn are just four of the manufacturers who, at Mobile Congress 2014, announced their intention to bring new Intel devices to market this year – and with the new generation of Intel’s mobile processors supporting 64-bit computing, it could be an exciting time for Android coders.
Fortunately, help is at hand for middleware or mobile app developers hoping to take advantage of some of the new possibilities, in the form of the Intel Mobile Development Kit for Android. The kit gives you access to an Intel x86 based tablet (the Dell Venue 8 Android tablet in this instance), a host of development tools to help with your build, and a whole host of technical materials on the operating system, middleware, hardware and tools.
