Bulkhead Interactive opens new studio in Munich, Bulkhead Darkhorse

UK developer Bulkhead Interactive is opening a new studio in Munich, Germany called Bulkhead Darkhorse, while the original office is rebranding to Bulkhead Phoenix.

This comes from an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, where Bulkhead’s CEO Joe Brammer states that the Munich studio will largely be focused on development and maintenance on the team’s WWII shooter Battalion 1944.

"Our strategy is to be one of the biggest fish in an admittedly small pond," Brammer says in the interview. "We don’t want to compete with the Ubisofts or Epics over in Berlin – we want to build our own thing.

Both studios are looking to bring up their headcount to meet the needs of the shooter, with Phoenix and Darkhorse currently working together on new update reworking the game, due to launch July 12th before they start to move towards Battalion’s full release in early 2019.

There’s a lot more information on Bulkhead’s plans, and frank discussion of Battalion’s rocky launch into early access, in the GamesIndustry.biz article, which is worth a read.
