Ex-Halo developer appears to be targeting current generation systems

Bungie’s Destiny detailed in asset leak

Details have leaked about Bungie’s next project, thought to be known as Destiny, which also appear to have been confirmed by the developer.

IGN received details of the game via a leaked assets from an advertising agency.

“Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age,” it reads. “A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector.

“Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”

The information adds that the game is specifically designed to “create a universe as deep, tangible and relatable as that of the Star Wars franchise” that is accessible to a wider market than simply the shooter faithful.

What’s more, the leak was seemingly confirmed by Bungie itself with a post on its website.

“Go ahead. Take a peek. It’s alright,” the studio said. “We weren’t quite ready, but we will be soon, and we can’t wait to finally show you what we’ve really been up to. Stick around, we haven’t even started yet.”

Questions remain over whether or not Destiny will indeed be an MMO as has been previously rumoured.

Additional leaked imagery also seems to question the detailed release schedule revealed as part of a lawsuit earlier this year, which hinted at next generation development. Early promo material for the game lists both Xbox and PS3 as launch platforms – conflicting with news that the game would initially be an Xbox exclusive.
