All future version of Street Fighter V will be PS4 and PC exclusive, too

Capcom has poured cold water on speculation that future iterations of its new fighter may appear on Xbox One.

The game was announced as a PlayStation console exclusive back in December. It now seems that this deal will apply to any future ‘Super’ or ‘Ultra’ versions, too.

"One comment we see a lot is that something like a Super Street Fighter 5 is going to come out on Xbox," a Capcom representative told GameSpot. "But the reality is that this is a real partnership. We are console exclusive for this franchise for this numbered run."

"We’re not talking about how we’re handling post-launch content, but I can say the relationship with Sony does open doors for things we haven’t been able to do in the past. The relationship serves a gameplay and development purpose, and not just a marketing value."

Xbox boss Phil Spencer has in the past said of the deal that Microsoft has to pick and choose its fights. And with Killer Instinct already handing Xbox One an exclusive fighter, Street Fighter was not something the company felt it could stretch for.

Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them,” he said in December. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours. I’d love it if Xbox fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It’s all part of competition. Love the idea of game franchise bartering, I’ll work on making amends for Street Fighter.”
